While leading MASEV Communications, Skip created this brand for Whistler-Blackcomb that has now grown into Mountain Biking’s biggest global celebration of the sport.  Crankworx was created 15 years ago when Whistler was seeking to “weatherproof” their winter operations by attracting more summer visitors.  It was designed to showcase Whistler’s newly expanded focus on lift-serviced mountain biking with the goal of making Whistler the “mecca” of the sport with the best bike park in the world that hosts the biggest mountain bike event in the world.  Crankworx Whistler has now evolved into the busiest week of the year for the resort and helps drive the entire season of highly profitable bike park operations from May through October. What started as a 4-day festival has grown to 10 days in Whistler and has now expanded to include three other global resort destinations: Rotorua, New Zealand,  Les Gets, France and Innsbruck, Austria, with an anticipated 1 to 2 additional events added in coming years.  Interplay’s role entails both strategic consultation and Executive Production that includes overseeing the production and international distribution (including securing agreements and new revenue streams with IMG Media and Red Bull Media House) of over 45-hours of broadcast, including 19 live broadcasts and digital content with viewership of over 26 million in 2016.
